Crafted with care by Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate (MKEC), this luxurious chocolate is made with 80% cacao and 20% milk powder. The result? A bold chocolate experience, mellowed by creamy milk without the need for added sugar. The unsweetened version offers a pure, unadulterated chocolate flavor, while the monk fruit variety provides a delicate hint of sweetness — all without the sugar crash.

Why No Added Sugar?
Reducing sugar intake has numerous benefits, from better blood sugar management and weight control to improved skin health and oral hygiene. For those following low-sugar or ketogenic diets, or individuals managing diabetes or pre-diabetes, this new chocolate is an indulgence that aligns with their health goals.
According to our founder and CEO, Dr. Gunars Valkirs, the journey to creating this chocolate was all about maintaining exceptional flavor while eliminating sugar.
“This product is the result of months of testing alternatives to find the perfect balance. In order to remove sugar from our regular dark milk chocolate recipe, it had to be replaced by something. The only logical choice was more cacao, so we increased the cacao content from 60 to 80 percent, while the milk powder remains at 20 percent. I believe customers will love the amazing rich chocolate flavor that comes through.”
The Sweet Touch of Monk Fruit
For those who enjoy a bit of sweetness, our second version includes monk fruit extract — a natural, plant-based sweetener that’s been used for centuries. Unlike artificial sweeteners, monk fruit is generally recognized as safe by the FDA and provides sweetness without the caloric impact of sugar. Remarkably, only 0.2% monk fruit extract is needed to match the sweetness of traditional chocolate, making it a fantastic alternative for those seeking a sugar-free treat.
Something for Everyone
It’s important to note that both versions contain milk, so they aren’t suitable for those with lactose intolerance. However, the presence of milk proteins and fats helps reduce lactose absorption, resulting in a lower glycemic impact compared to conventional milk chocolate.
