What is a chocolate tasting?

Similar to a wine tasting, our chocolate tastings feature a curated flight of our favorite chocolate pairings. You will be led through the interactive tasting by either CEO Dr. Gunars Valkirs or VP of Farm & Factory Operations Dan O'Doherty. They will talk about growing cacao in our Lahaina orchard, sourcing other cacaos from around the world, chocolate formulation and making, and our factory production. 

You will be able to watch videos of the farm to bar process, see into the chocolate factory, and talk to members of the team that make chocolate and serve our customers.

Beyond the actual chocolate production, we'll also share with you the reasons behind our company's community mission, emphasis on sustainability (did you know that our factory is 100% solar powered?), and more.

Our curated Chocolate Tasting will include nine 5g chocolate pieces selected from our full line of Made in Maui chocolate.

How do I book a chocolate tasting?

Do you have an elevator?

A special access elevator is available for guests who need assistance climbing with stairs.

What types of tastings do you offer?

We currently offer three types of chocolate tastings:

1. In Person Chocolate Tasting ($35 pp)

3. Private Group In Person or Virtual Chocolate Tasting –– inquire for pricing 

*Your tasting fee will be donated directly to the Maui Food Bank. This tasting features three pieces of chocolate from our 2020 Limited Release Collection in addition to ten pieces of both dark and dark milk flavored chocolate from our original Costa Esmeraldas line.

Do you offer private group tastings?

Private in person chocolate tastings are available for groups of 10-30 people (such as businesses, non-profits, or clubs for meetings, team building activities, and more). These can take place at our open-air Ku'ia Pavilion in Lahaina, Hawaii.

We have provisions for a light lunch to be served after any private in-person chocolate tastings in the Pavilion, as catered independently by local chefs. 

We also offer private virtual group tastings via Zoom (or your preferred platform) for a minimum of 10 participants. Each virtual tasting is live and interactive. We are also happy to provide optional beverage pairing suggestions.
